2. Antilla - $1 Billion

Antilla located in Mumbai is ranked as the most expensive house in the entire world. This luxurious home was built by Perkins & Will, an architecture company based in Chicago and the popular Hirsch Bender associates.

Unlike other billionaires who build their homes far from prying eyes, the Antilla takes up 400,000 square feet of Mumbai City. It’s a 27 storey building that was designed to withstand an earthquake of a magnitude eight.

Inside the Antilla, there is a 50 seat movie theatre, a temple, nine elevators, and 6 storey car garage. At the top of the roof, you will find a helipad. Within the same premises, there is an ice cream room, a bunch of cinemas, and a yoga studio amongst others. The entire house is serviced by over 600 staff.

3. Villa Leopolda - $750 Million

Do you think that the villas in Hawaii are luxurious? Well, the Villa Leopolda takes the word luxury to the next level. Home to Lily Safra, widow to the late Lebanese Brazilian Banker Edmund Safra, this villa uses up 50 acres in the Frances Alps-Maritime.

There is a helipad, a commercial greenhouse, a bunch of swimming pools, 11 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms. This villa has been a home to King Leopold II of Belgium and Ogden Codman Jr, a popular architect in the 1920’s. It’s also where To Catch a Thief was filmed.

Villa Les Cedres also belonged to King Leopold II. It appears this guy had great taste in real estate. Estimated to be worth half a billion dollars, the Villa Les Cedres was ranked the most expensive house in 2017. This is before the above three overtook it with time.

Its name is derived from the many cedar trees found in the 35-acre garden. The entire villa stands on 18,000 square feet of land. There is a 30 horse stable and an Olympic size swimming pool. Being an old villa, here you will find popular 19th-century paintings, crystal chandeliers, and a wood-paneled library with a collection of more than 3,000 books.

5. Les Palais Bulles - $390 Million

Popularly known as the Bubble Palace, the architectural design of this home makes it a very unique place to live in. Built during the 1980s, the Les Palais Bulles features a set of round rooms facing the Mediterranean Sea.

It was built by Antti Lovag, a famous architect who was inspired by man’s early dwellings. The Las Palais Bulles has an amphitheater that can accommodate 500 people. It has several gardens and three swimming pools.

Currently, Les Palais Bulles is owned by Pierre Cardin who is a popular French fashion designer.
